Israel Awards Contracts for Combat Systems for Magen Class Corvettes

With the expected delivery of the first of Magen Class corvette next year the IMOD awards orders for the combat systems to be integrated with those vessels as they arrive in Israel. Elbit Systems announced today the receipt of an order worth US$85 for electronic warfare systems destined for those ships.

An Austrian Assault Weapon Positioned as a Possible Successor of the German G36 Rifle

The German defense company Rheinmetall has teamed with Austrian arms manufacturer Steyr Mannlicher to manufacture and market the RS556 - a German version of the 5.56mm x 45 cal. modular assault rifle system based on Steyr's STM556. Rheinmetall positions the weapon as a proposed replacement for the current German military assault rifle - G36 made by Heckler & Koch.

The Czech government approved the launch of procurement negotiations for four Israeli “SPYDER” batteries, within the framework of a G2G agreement between the two countries. IAI To Produce, Market Zibar Offroad Vehicles

IAI acquires the manufacturing operations of the Zibar offroad tactical vehicle, designed and built by Israeli offroad entrepreneur Ido Cohen. The Z family activities being acquired include the Zibar, Zmag – a light version of the platform, and ZED – the armored off-road vehicle. IAI ELTA will design and produce the vehicles in its manufacturing site in Beer Sheva, where RAM vehicles are currently built. The company plans to adapt and configure the vehicles for military and homeland defense applications, and now, acting as the vehicle design authority will be well-positioned to address specific customer requirements.

Britain to Transfer its Last Helicopter Carrier to Brazil
