IAI’s ROTEM – Tactical Multirotor Killer Drone

IAI MBT has designed as a small, quad-rotor based loitering weapon called ROTEM, that is uniquely built to support dismounted combatants and special operations in urban warfare, offering effective, indirect observation and engagement of targets from an elevated position.

SRATS – Stealth Reconnaissance/Assault Transport System

SRATS which stands for "Specialized Reconnaissance Assault and Transport System" evolved from a proof of concept vehicle, utilizing "Rock Crawler" and "Sand Rail" technologies, which are popular with recreational and extreme off-road automotive sports, to produce an off-road vehicle designed to handle extreme terrain conditions. In 2004 DARPA funded the development of two prototype vehicles under a proof of...

Sky Sapience Introduces HoverMast – a Lightweight Autonomous Hovering Platform

The ‘HoverMast’ developed by the Israeli start-up company Sky Sapience is scheduled to go on an operational demonstration in the upcoming months, demonstrating the system’s capability to expand the surveillance coverage of unmanned ground vehicles. The payload currently integrated on the HoverMast is the T-Stamp from Controp, a stabilized multi-sensor payload. The HoverMast will be unveiled at the upcoming...

Unmanned Systems at Eurosatory 2008

A wide range of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) displayed at Eurosatory 2008 indicated how advanced these systems became and how popular they become withdefense forces. However, despite the considerable advances, most systems on display were still experimental, with only a few such as EOD/IED robots such as the iRobot PacBot, and the Talon from QinetiQ, and the Israeli Guardium autonomous...

Active Denial System (ADS)

The Active Denial System (ADS) developed by Raytheon for the US Air Force Research Labs is a non lethal, counter-personnel directed energy non-lethal weapon which can be used against human targets at distances beyond the effective range of small arms. ADS projects a focused millimeter wave energy beam which induces intolerable heating sensation on an adversary's skin and cause...

Israel Deploys OFEK 16 Spy Satellite in Orbit

The Space Administration in the Directorate of Defense Research and Development (DDR&D), of the Israel Ministry of Defense (IMoD), and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI), have successfully launched the “Ofek 16” reconnaissance satellite into space, today (6.07.2020), at 4:00 AM. The launch was performed from the Palmachim Airbase in Israel, a launch site based south of Tel Aviv in central Israel, using a “Shavit” launcher.

Evaluation of new combat vehicles for the Australian Army will sonn begin, with the delivery of the first Hawkei protected vehicle by Thales, for Project LAND 121 Phase 4. Supacat also delivered the first improved Special Operations Vehicles (SOV) developed under Project JP2097 Phase 1B.

Unattended Ground Sensors

Start < Page 1 of 5 > After several decades of rather obscure awareness in military operations, the use of passive sensors for remote battlefield applications is becoming more popular. Driven by modern Digital Signal Processing (DSP), sensors are become smaller, yet much more accurate and sophisticated. These technological advances have made the development of advanced, multi-sensor Unattended Ground Sensors...

Future Drones: Mission Systems’ Automation

This post continues our discussion on Future Drones Mission autonomy evolved parallel to the automation of piloting functions. Such capabilities are derived from mission payloads that become smarter to collect, process and fuse data with other sensor streams and store it on the platform. Persistent Wide Area Surveillance (PWAS) is an example of those capabilities that help military and security...

New Scout SV armoured vehicle unveiled at DVD

General Dynamics UK (GDUK) unveiled today the Scout Specialist Vehicle (SV) at the DVD event in Millbrook Proving Ground in the UK. This is the first of a new generation of armoured vehicles being developed for the British Army. The vehicle is a pre-production prototype of the 'Protected Mobility Recce Support' (PMRS) variant designed and built for the British Army....

Special review: Israel’s largest defense technology display at Eurosatory 2014

Israel's participation at the Eurosatory defense exhibition this year was the largest ever. This review covers many of the highlights displayed at the Israel national pavilion organized by SIBAT, Israel's defense export directorate.

Reaper Drones to Master AI with Agile Condor Super Computing Pod

General Atomics Aeronautical Systems, Inc. has been awarded a contract from the U.S. Air Force (USAF) to demonstrate the Air Force Research Lab’s “Agile Condor” capability using a company-owned MQ-9 Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA). The testing will determine the optimum artificial intelligence and machine learning methodologies to find, identify and track select targets. Agile Condor also has the potential to dramatically reduce satellite bandwidth requirements as a result of its ability to automatically identify, classify, and nominate targets of interest.

SpyBowl reconnaissance Sphere from Exavision

Thrown or rolled into a suspicious target area, Spybowl uses four cameras to generate an omni-directional view of its surrounding and a microphone to detect and transmit voices. The system uses HF radio for data transmission over range of up to 30 meters inside buildings or 100 meters outdoors. All components are packed inside an rubber coated aluminum sphere, enabling...

Elbit Expands Range of Autonomous Ground Vehicles

The IDF is testing various types of Israeli built unmanned ground vehicles, among them, autonomous navigating robotic vehicles used for security missions and a portable robot designed to support infantry units in urban warfare. At AUSA Winter symposium, March 2007 Elbit Systems unveiled its lastest UGV known as the Versatile, Intelligent and Portable Robot (VIPeR). This robot is designed to support infantry...
