On the eve of 2015 we took some time to review the past year. Going through the stats, it was clear that these records were achieved together – by us and by you.
The Year in Numbers
Our team posted more than 500 articles this year, bringing the number of features and posts published in the past 10 years to nearly 6,000. We added to our online archives more than 1,600 new photos, 15 exclusive video productions and 120 new videos, which brought Defense Update archives over the 10,000 item threshold. All these resources are now available online to readers and subscribers.
These efforts were received with unprecedented reader interest. Collectively, over 2,300,000 readers visited Defense Update in 2014, reading more than 5,000,000 article pages. Our video reports were equally popular, with a stunning viewing of more than 4,000,000 minutes (that’s 2,800 days spent viewing our videos!). Our videos reached more than 2,500,000 viewers this year.
Your interest and support brought Defense Update to be listed among the global top 100,000 websites.
Our internal survey also shows a high level of reader satisfaction and interest. On average, you read 2-3 pages in every visit, staying about four minutes each time. Collectively, our readers spent 6,542 days with us in the past year. It was our pleasure to serve you, and we hope you were satisfied with what you received.
We experienced a significant increase in the use of mobile devices this year. In total, about 20% of your visits were conducted by tablets and mobile devices. Defense Update is designed to adapt automatically to your screen sizes, and we continuously implement the latest techniques to make Defense Update perform efficiently and securely with all media types.
As an international forum for defense technology, we serve defense professionals around the globe – the USA, the UK, India, Canada, Germany, Australia, France and Israel were among the most frequent destinations this year.
Throughout the year we followed defense industries and professionals, reporting from defense exhibitions and events around the world. In 2014 we reported from Defexpo in India, the Singapore Airshow, AUVSI and SOFIC in Florida, Eurosatory in France, Farnborough in the UK, the AUSA exhibition in Washington DC, the Homeland Security Expo and AUS&R in Israel and Airshow China in Zuhai, China.
We have exciting new plans for the New Year. In addition to current news and analysis, each month we will publish special features covering program and market reviews. (get the 2015 media kit.)
Our teams will report from the world’s leading events, including the International Armored Vehicles expo in the UK, Aero India in Bangalore, LAAD in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil, AUVSI in Atlanta, GA, ISDEF in Israel, the Paris Air Show in France, MAKS and RAE in Russia, DSEI in the UK, AUSA in the US and Milipol in France.
A Digital Marketing Toolbox for Defense Marketers
A new service to be launched later this month is the Digital Marketing for Defense channel, an exclusive market research and tutorial for defense marketing executives, which will discuss the challenges, opportunities and techniques available for defense marketers. As part of this subscription-based blog, we will be introducing a monthly updated market research listing top-25 and top 10 most popular websites of defense companies. We will also review and recommend the best practices employed by leading brands and analyze different targeting techniques reaching defense-related audiences, exploring how defense marketers use mobile and social marketing techniques, and more.
