BAE Systems introduced today the fifth evolutionary variant of the CV90 infantry fighting vehicle that embeds many of the upgrades and modifications designed through the evolution of the vehicle family.

Norway Orders Korean 155mm Self Propelled Howitzers

The Norwegian Defence Materiel Agency and Hanwha Land Systems yesterday signed a contract for the procurement of 24 K9 Thunder self-propelled 155mm L/52 Artillery Systems. The total worth of the arms package is about 1.8 Billion NOK. (US$287 million). Pre-series of the artillery system will be delivered for initial trials in 2019 with the remaining batches delivered through 2020, forming a combat-ready artillery battalion in 2021.

NATO establishes a fleet of multirole tanker transport fleet

The North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO) is establishing a multinational fleet of Multinational, Multi Role Tanker Transport Fleet (MMF), the acquisition of the fleet will be lead by the Netherlands. The decision followed the principal approval of ten European countries which signed the letter of intent to jointly purchase and operate the tanker fleet on November 2012.

The U.S. Department of Defense and Lockheed Martin have reached an agreement in principle for the production of 43 F-35 Lightning II joint strike fighter (JSF) aircraft. The buy includes 19 F-35As for the Air Force, six F-35Bs for the Marines and four F-35Cs for the Navy. Additional aircraft included are 10 F-35As for Israel (2), Japan (4), Norway (2)and Italy (2) as well as four F-35Bs for the UK.

Norway Invests $750 Million Modernizing and Expanding CV90 Fleet

The Norwegian Government awarded BAE Systems a contract worth over US$750 million (ÂŁ500 M.) for the upgrading and manufacturing of 144 CV90 armored combat vehicles for the Norwegian Army. This number will include the upgrading of all 103 CV9030s, currently operational with the Norwegian Army since the mid 1990s, and the production of 41 new chassis, bringing all future Norwegian CV90s to a common configuration by 2017.

Norway to Spend US$1.74 Billion on Armored Vehicle Modernization
