Boeing, Saab to Build the US Air Force’s Future Trainer
The U.S. Air Force plans to replace its pilot trainers, with an integrated system comprising modern trainer jet and flight simulators. The Air Force announced yesterday the awarded of a $9.2 billion contract to the Boeing Company, to develop and deliver 351 T-X aircraft, 46 simulators, and associated ground equipment to replace the Air Education and Training Command's 57-year-old fleet of T-38C Talons.
Leonardo Adds an M346 Variant Dedicated to Air and Ground Attack
The Italian-based international defense company Leonardo is introducing a new, Fighter Attack (FA) variant of their M-346 trainer, dedicated to attack missions. The new variant will be shown this week at the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget. According to the manufacturer, the new fighter attack version is an evolution of a family concept of the M-346 Master, designed to create a common baseline, able to adapt and meet different requirements of air forces. According to Leonardo, several air forces have already expressed their interest in the new variant.
Boeing Introduces its Brand New Candidate for the USAF T-X Trainer
The Boeing company unveiled today the new jet trainer aircraft it has developed with Saab AB [Stockholm: SAABB]. The companies plan to offer the aircraft for the U.S. Air Forces' future trainer aircraft, under the T-X program planned for 2017. The aircraft has one engine, twin tails, stadium seating and an advanced cockpit with embedded training.

Lockheed Martin announced today that it will offer the T-50A in the U.S. Air Force's T-X Advanced Pilot Training (APT). The T-50A is the US designation reserved for the Korean T-50 Golden Eagle. The US Air Force plans to acquire 350 advanced trainers, to replace the +50 year old T-38 Talon in service.
Additional M-346 trainers for the Italian Air Force
