Since its introduction in 1979 Mercedes Benz G-Wagen (or G Class as it is known by official designation) has become a popular vehicle, not only for adventurers and military forces alike. This article highlights some of the latest military variants unveiled recently, as the G Wagen reaches its 40th anniversary.

Kissling Service is demonstrating at Eurosatory a complete command post configuration based on a Mercedes Benz G-Wagon 'Command Post Concept SUV' that comprises multiple VHF/UHF-radios, a Satellite-Telephone, a C-IED-Jammer, Reconnaissance systems, a smoke grenade launcher and an IP-based intercom system. A clean energy solution based on high power density Li-Ion battery from Epsilor supports many hours of extensive operations, without running the engine at high RPM.

The Australian Government has approved spending A$550 million on four major Defense programs. When complete, these projects are estimated to involve expenditure of around $3 billion.
