Jordan to Receive 25 Modernized Marder IFVs from Germany

The German government has contracted with Rheinmetall to upgrade 25 Marder 1A3 Infantry Fighting Vehicles (IFV) from Bundeswehr surplus stocks. The new vehicles will be delivered at the beginning in the first quarter of 2018.

Jordan Received 16 AH-1F Cobra Gunship helicopters from Israeli Surplus

Israel has delivered 16 retired U.S.-supplied Cobra helicopter gunships to Jordan to help the Hashemite kingdom deal with the threat of Islamic State (ISIS) which currently control large areas along its borders with Syria and Iraq. The transfer provided at no cost was kept in secret since last year but was recently leaked by an unnamed U.S. official and published by Reuters.

Jordan is Seeking to Aquire Chinese Armed Drones

China is offering to sell Jordan missile-firing drones to fight the Islamic State terror army. China has recently expanded its UAV offering to include armed versions. In the absence of alternatives from market leading suppliers in the USA and Israel, China and Turkey are both pursuing armed UAV requests from the UAE, Egypt, Jordan and Nigeria. According to press reports, some were already sold to Saudi Arabia in 2014.
