The Royal Air Force ( RAF) will extend the service of no. 12 (Bober) Squadron operating Tornado GR4, which currently takes part in the air campaign against ISIL in Iraq. The squadron's Tornados will will be maintained in service for an additional year, until March 2017 the British Defence Secretary has announced during a recent visit in Baghdad.
India is likely to recompete the Medium Multi-Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA) program, inviting bidders to compete on the production of 90 fighter jets for the Indian Air Force at a cost of around $30 billion. The RFP will likely recompete all the types that have already been evaluated by the IAF
The multi-billion dollar tender for the 126 Medium Multi Role Combat Aircraft (MMRCA), for which Rafale was shortlisted in 2012, has been withdrawn by the government, after New delhi committed to buy only 36 of the aircraft in April this year. India planned to buy 126 jet fighters for the replacement of its aging MiG-27, MiG-27 and Jaguar fighter jets. According to the plans, 108 of the aircraft would be produced in India and 18 to be imported. The procurement of 36 Rafales, to be built in France will meet only a small part of gap the Indian Air Force has in its fighter jet fleet
The U.S. Marine Corps' F-35B Lightning II aircraft reached initial operational capability today with a squadron of 10 F-35Bs ready for world-wide deployment. Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 121 (VMFA-121), based in Yuma, Arizona, is the first squadron in military history to become operational with an F-35 variant, following a five-day Operational Readiness Inspection (ORI), which concluded July 17.

Dassault Aviation officially delivered today to the Egyptian Air Force the first three Rafale fighter jets. The official ceremony was held today at the Dassault Aviation flight test center in Istres. Egyptian pilots, trained by the French Air Force, will fly the first three aircraft to Cairo. The new fighters are expected to take part in the inauguration of the expanded Suez Canal, August 6th.

A Russian Tu-95 (NATO Reporting name 'Bear') crashed today in the Russian Far East region of Khabarovsk, while flying on a training mission. The aircraft was unarmed and all seven crew members abandoned the aircraft before it went down, the Russian Defense Ministry said.
