The first Tupolev Tu-160M Blackjack has completed its maiden flight after an avionic modernization that revamped the bombers' radar and avionic systems in the past two years. Lockheed Martin has been awarded additional a $4,123 million contract, as a modification to the F-35 program, for the production of 43 F-35s under the eighth Low Rate Initial Production (LRIP Lot VIII) lot of the F-35 Lightning II aircraft. The Pentagon claimed the cost of the current lot reflects a reduction of 3.6 percent over LRIP VII. More reductions will come into effect in the next batch of production.

The Government of the Republic of Korea officially requested yesterday to cancel the KF-16 upgrading contract with BAE Systems Technology Solutions & Service of the USA. The contract worth $138 million was the lead part in a longer upgrading program covering the modernization of 134 Republic of Korea Air Force KF-16s. The contract was managed by the US Air Force under the U.S. Foreign Military Sales (FMS) procurement.
