The Triton recently demonstrated its ability to share the video with the navy’s P-8A Poseidon, as both platforms were airborne and far away from each other. The Air Forces’ Block 30 Global Hawk was also updated, to carry new mission payloads.
Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) has expanded its Maritime Surveillance Radar family. introducing two new models - the ELM-2022ML lightweight and compact radar, for helicopters and tactical unmanned systems, and the ELM-2022ES - employing mechanically rotating electronic scanned antenna array.
The Australian Government has approved the acquisition of eight Boeing P-8A Poseidon maritime surveillance aircraft at an investment of about A$4 billion (US$3.6 Billion). The Australian acquisition would be the second international Poseidon sale for Boeing and the first international sale for the Triton UAS. The first eight P-8I 'Neptune' were ordered by India in 2009 for US$2.1 billion. Three have already been delivered to India. Additional four aircraft were ordered in 2011.
The Indian Air Force is planning to embark on a tri-service wide upgrade of its Israeli-supplied unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs), as part of an unprecedented program that could cost up to one billion US$. Indian military services are already operating more than 150 UAVs, mostly Searcher Mk II and Heron I procured from Israel Aerospace Industries since the early 2000s.
