Israel will soon begin serial production of Eitan 8x8 armored personnel carriers (APC) at the IDF Technical and Logistics Directorate Development and Maintenance Center, where Merkava and Namer heavy armored fighting vehicles are produced. Eitan is expected to become operational at the end of 2021, replacing the half-century-old M-113 APC.

RAFAEL to Produce Spike LR2 Guided Missiles in Australia
Australia selected the Israeli Spike LR2 multi-purpose guided missile to equip the new Boxer Combat Reconnaissance vehicles procured from Rheinmetall Defense under an A$2.1 billion Under project Land 400 Phase 2 contract. Australia is the second user to select the new LR2 version of the missile, following the Israel Defense Forces that placed an order for 2,000 in 2017.

The Prime Minister of Australia, The Honourable Malcolm Turnbull MP, has announced today that Rheinmetall has been selected by the Australian Government to provide its next-generation 8x8 Combat Reconnaissance Vehicles (CRVs)The German-designed Boxer 8x8 wheeled armored reconnaissance vehicles will replace the Piranha-based ASLAV armored vehicles currently in service under the Land 400 Phase 2 Project.

Armored Lithuania confirmed this week its order for 88 Boxer 8x8 infantry fighting vehicles (IFV) armored vehicles signed with the German consortium ARTEC. The Lithuanian military will call this vehicle ‘Vilkas’, which means ‘wolf.' the Israeli Samson 30mm MK II remote weapon station turret, mounting a MK44 automatic 30mm cannon from ATK and 7.62 coaxial machine gun.
Australia Shortlists Boxer, AMV-35 for Future Combat Recce Vehicle
The Australian Defense ministry announced that two European companies - British BAE Systems and German Rheinmetall, as the bidders shortlisted as potential suppliers of armored combat vehicles for the Australian Army’s Mounted Combat Reconnaissance Capability, also known as 'Land 400 Phase 2' program, to become the successor of the 8x8 ASLAV currently in service. The Australian Minister for Defence Industry, Christopher Pyne, announced.
Germany Orders a New Batch of Boxers
Munich, Germany: The Artec company has signed a contract with OCCAR, for the production of a second batch of 131 Boxer armored personnel carriers for the German Army. The total order is worth EUR 476 million.
GDLS, Thales team to offer new wheeled armored vehicles to Australia,
General Dynamics Land Systems and Thales Australia are teaming to bid to the Australian Defence Land 400 Phase 2 - Mounted Combat Reconnaissance Capability (MCRC) Request For Tender. The Combat Reconnaissance Vehicle (CRV) fleet will support seven mission roles identified within the LAND 400 Operational Concept Document (OCD). The Australian tender seek a military-off-the-shelf (MOTS) based capability, and maximise Australian industry content. Through-Life Support for the MCRC is being acquired under a collateral contract. First delivery of the CRV is expected in 2020 with first unit achieving initial operational capability (IOC) three years later.
Boxer APC to Deploy to Afghanistan in August 2011
The first Boxer armored personnel carriers (APC) have arrived at Donaueschingen Germany in February 2011 to equip the 292 Jägerbattalion (light infantry battalion), in preparation for the unit’s deployment to Afghanistan by August this year. The battalion will dispatch a platoon with four vehicles to be deployed to Mazar-e-Sharif in Northern Afghanistan, as part of the German training and protection battalion.
The Boxer Family is Expanding
At Eurosatory 2010 KMW displayed the new infantry fighting vehicle version of the Boxer, equipped with the Lance remote controlled turret (RCT) mounting the Mk44 Bushmaster 30mm automatic cannon, and the FLW200 Independent Commander Weapon System (ICWS) mounting a 7.62 machine gun. Another version recently introduced is the combat repair vehicle, a new configuration responding to requirementf from Afghanistan.
