11 Killed on a Colombian ELINT Plane Crash
A Colombian Air-Force CN235 special-mission aircraft plane crashed on Friday in the north of the country, killing all 11 of those on board. The CN235 is manufactured by Airbus; the plane was produced in 1998 in Seville, Spain and was one of several aircraft converted to carry out Electronic Warfare missions.

The Turkish Phantom downed by the Syrians could have performed a ‘teasing’ game, in an attempt to stimulate the Syrian air defenses to activate their fire control radars. Such counteraction would give away critical data that could be used to optimize electronic Turkish or NATO countermeasures in case the alliance decides to involve in the situation and enforce a ‘no fly zone’ over Syria.
