The German defense company Rheinmetall has teamed with Austrian arms manufacturer Steyr Mannlicher to manufacture and market the RS556 - a German version of the 5.56mm x 45 cal. modular assault rifle system based on Steyr's STM556. The German armed forces have shelved a plan to buy a new Medium Altitude Long Endurance (MALE) Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) in favor of $650 million lease plan for such vehicles, which will commence operations from Israel beginning in 2018.

The German shipbuilder ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) has signed today a contract to build four patrol corvettes for the Israeli Navy. Israel will pay €315 million of the €430 million contract.
