Israel Selects CH-53K to Replace its 50 Year Old Stallions

Israel selects Lockheed Martin Sikorsky CH-53K Yasour helicopters as the IDF’s new heavy-lift aircraft, as part of the IDF’s “Tnufa” (Momentum), multi-year plan. These will replace the “Yassur” helicopters employed by the IAF since the late 1960s.

Sikorsky Teams with Rheinmetall to Offer CH-53K to Germany

Lockheed Martin Sikorsky has signed a strategic agreement with and German defense firm Rheinmetall teaming for competing in the German Air Force planned replacement of Sikorsky's CH-53G heavy transport helicopter program (Schwerer Transporthubschrauber - STH). The Germans evaluate two options - the CH-47F Chinook from Boeing and CH-53K from Lockheed Martin Sikorsky. The team plans to introduce more German teammates in the weeks to come.

Israel Requests Eight SH-60F SeaHawk from US Navy Surplus

Israel is seeking US approval for the supply of eight SH-60F Sea-Hawk Helicopters from US Navy surplus to support the Israeli Navy security operations in the Mediterranean Sea. The helicopters will initially operate with the four new Meko-100 Class Magen corvettes Israel will receive from Germany by 2020.

CH-53K Successful in Heavy Weight Lift Trials

The Marine Corps' new heavyweight lifter CH-53K King Stallion completed an external lift of a 13 tons (27,000 pounds) payload at Sikorsky’s Development Flight Test Center in West Palm Beach June 17. The first two aircraft have already verified the King Stallion’s capabilities well in excess of the predecessor CH-53E.

Lockheed Martin to Buy Sikorsky Aircraft for US$7.1 Bn

Lockheed Martin Corp has agreed to buy United Technologies Corp's (UTC) Sikorsky Aircraft for over $8 billion, US news agency Reuters reported on Sunday. Such a deal would enhance Lockheed Martin's dominance in the aerospace market, while adding a civil element to its defense-oriented portfolio.

Sikorsky pulls out of a $3.6 billion Polish helicopter tender

The Consortium of Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and PZL Mielec is withdrawing form a tender for utility helicopters requested by the Polish Ministry of Defense, unless terms of the procedure are amended, Sikorsky Aircraft and PZL Mielec announced today. Sikorsky said the Consortium is not opting out of the procurement but "It is impossible to submit an economically viable offer that would be 100% compliant with each and every requirement, including technical, legal and financial aspects."
