First Flight for the Israeli C-130J Samson

The first C-130J destined for the Israel Air Force (IAF Tail number 661) made its first flight this week at Lockheed Martin's Marietta plant in GA. After flight inspection the aircraft will be equipped with additional mission systems to meet IAF specifications; it is scheduled to arrive in Israel in 2014.

While the first of three C-130J 'Shimshon' Super Hercules transport aircraft destined for Israel is shaping up at Lockheed Martin's assembly line at Marietta, GA, the IAF is also embarking on the modernization of its existing C-130Hs through a comprehensive modernization program. Elbit Systems announced today that it has been selected to upgrade C-130H Hercules transport aircraft for the IAF.
