To survive and continue to be effective in service these tanks must be modernized.

Egypt, France and Russia have reached an agreement to sell Egypt the two Mistral Helicopter Carriers originally built in France for the Russian Navy. The ships could be delivered to Egypt in March 2016. Egypt is also buying Russian Ka-52K helicopters, to be delivered from 2017.

Following the sale of Rafale fighter jets, FREMM frigate and possibly, the Mistral helicopter carrier built for the Russian Navy, France is offering Egypt its latest UAV - the Patroller.

Egypt Receives First Delivery of Three Rafales

Dassault Aviation officially delivered today to the Egyptian Air Force the first three Rafale fighter jets. The official ceremony was held today at the Dassault Aviation flight test center in Istres. Egyptian pilots, trained by the French Air Force, will fly the first three aircraft to Cairo. The new fighters are expected to take part in the inauguration of the expanded Suez Canal, August 6th.

Egypt’s military killed 35 Islamist militants in North Sinai on Thursday, following a wide scale attack by militant groups affiliated with the Islamic State (ISIS). France confirms sale of Rafale fighter jets to Egypt

Dassault Aviation confirmed today the Arab Republic of Egypt’s decision to equip its air force with the Rafale fighter jet. "This decision is a continuation of our cooperation that dates back to the 1970s, and has seen the Mirage 5, the Alpha Jet and the Mirage 2000 fly in the colors of Egypt." Dassault commented. The Egyptian decision marks the second international selection of the French fighter, following the Indian selection of Rafale in 2012.

Paris, Cairo ‘close to agreement’ on Rafale, FREMM deal worth 5-6...

France and Egypt are ‘close to agreement’ on a large scale arms deal that could cost 5-6 billion Euros and include naval vessels and fighter aircraft, La Tribune reports. The French proposal includes two FREMM multi-mission frigates worth 1.8 billion Euro, to be built by DCNS, and 20 Rafale combat aircraft from Dassault, worth 3.6 billion Euro. Both platforms will be armed with missile systems manufactured by MBDA.
