Clearing MTCR Obstacle, India Requests the US to Supply Weaponized Drones

India's Ministry of Defence (MoD) issued a letter of request (LoR) to the United States on 17 June to procure 22 multi-mission General Atomics Guardian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) for the Indian Navy. The Guardian is a maritime variant of the Predator B. India is requesting the sale of these drones via the Foreign Military Sales (FMS) route.

US Navy demonstrates carrier-based manned-unmanned cooperation

The first series of manned/unmanned operations on board USS Theodore Roosevelt began when the ship launched an F/A-18 and an X-47B. After an eight-minute flight, the X-47B executed an arrested landing, folded its wings and taxied out of the landing area. The deck-based operator used newly developed deck handling control to manually move the aircraft out of the way of other aircraft, allowing the F/A-18 to touch down close behind the X-47B's recovery

Taranis UCAV demonstrates stealth capabilities

BAE Systems and the British MOD have completed second phase of flight testing, which included flight evaluations of the unmanned combat aerial vehicle (UCAV) low observable (stealth) capabilities. According to BAE Systems, during this latest set of trials Taranis flew in a fully ‘stealthy’ configuration, making it virtually invisible to radar.
